(Approach) How working with us unfolds

The CoherenceCircle.

A connected way to build a brand that carries what matters.

Your organization has a reason for being. The challenge is making that reason clear in the way you look, speak, and connect with people.

The Coherence Circle is True Story's approach to building that connection. We begin with what is at the center of your organization: why it exists, whom it serves, what it believes, and what makes it distinct. From there, we bring the brand to life through four connected directions.

You may come to us for one part of the work or for a larger journey through the circle. We'll start by understanding where you are and what would be most useful now.

(01)At the center

Brand Infrastructure.

Brand Infrastructure is the foundation for the decisions your organization makes about its brand and communications. It clarifies your vision and mission, positioning, audiences, values, and the point of view you want people to understand.

When that foundation is clear, design and messaging have something real to express. When it needs attention, we begin there.

(02)If your message has drifted

The Coherence Audit.

If your organization has years of websites, campaigns, appeals, newsletters, or other communications, you may already have a strong foundation, but the language may no longer reflect who you are today.

  1. i.

    Review

I review the materials we agree on: websites, campaigns, appeals, newsletters.

  2. ii.

    Half a day together

I spend a half day with you, in conversation about your organization and its communications.

  3. iii.

    A written assessment

You receive what your organization is saying, where the message may have drifted, and what I recommend addressing first.

The Audit gives us a clear place to begin. From there, we can decide together whether the next step is to renew your Brand Infrastructure or move into another direction.

The four directions

(03)The four directions

  1. (01)North

    Foundation and Alignment

Get clear about what your organization is here to do and what it wants to be known for. Together, we explore your purpose, positioning, audiences, values, and point of view, then bring those decisions together in a Brand Infrastructure document.

A good place to start ifyou're building something new, entering a major transition, or need the foundation made clearer before moving into design or communications.

  2. (02)East

    Creative Direction and Visual Language

Give your foundation a visual expression. We develop a creative direction for the colors, typography, imagery, and core brand marks that fit your organization and can be used consistently.

A good place to start ifyour visual identity no longer reflects who you are, or you need a thoughtful visual foundation for a new organization or initiative.

  3. (03)The Brand Stamp

A source of truth for your brand

After the foundation and visual direction are in place, we bring them together in your Brand Stamp: a practical reference for the people who create and care for your communications.

It captures the important details of your brand: what you do, whom you serve, what you want people to understand, and how the brand should look, feel, and sound. Your team and creative partners can use it as a shared guide. It can also give AI tools useful brand context, with people still responsible for reviewing the work.

  4. (04)West

    Message Architecture

Build the language your organization needs to communicate clearly with different audiences. We develop the core messages, story pillars, and voice guidance that help your team speak consistently, then create agreed copy and communications materials.

A good place to start ifdifferent people describe your organization in different ways, or your communications need a clearer structure and shared voice.

  5. (05)South

    Launch and Connection

Put the brand into use. We help plan the sequence, communications, and outreach that introduce the work to the people who need to know about it. Together, we clarify what happens next and who will carry each step.

A good place to start ifyou have a foundation, identity, or message ready to share and want a practical plan for bringing it into the world.

(04)How the work moves

A circle, not a checklist.

The directions belong together, but you don't have to take on everything at once. Some organizations begin with a review of existing communications. Others start by building their foundation.

We'll identify the right entry point and shape the scope around your needs. As the organization changes, the work can return to its Brand Infrastructure and build from there again. The center stays connected to every decision around it.

(05)How we work

Arrive, settle, then listen.

At the beginning of working sessions, we take a few minutes to focus, breathe, and connect attention with the heart. It's a simple way to arrive, settle, and make room for an honest conversation. You don't need any prior experience.

From there, we listen, explore, and shape what we learn into clear decisions and useful brand work. We pay attention to what feels important, where there's energy for movement, and what may need more thought before the next step.

(06)Start with a conversation

Where does your circle begin?

Tell us what is changing, what feels unclear, and what you want people to understand about your organization. We'll talk through where to begin and what kind of support would be useful.
